Mid-Level Practicum



Mid Level Practicum students learn through guided clinical experience in Nepal's best rural hospitals.

Providing clinical skills to paramedicals who form the backbone of the rural health care team.

   
   

National Need

  • Studies show poor clinical skills in mid-level workers, usually trained under private institutes.
  • Mid-levels provide the main clinical service outside of hospitals
   
   

Course Description

  • 3-month course
  • Concentrates on 20 common syndromes (using algorithms for decision making) and on 10 common medical procedures
   
   

Results

  • Graduates during pilot phase increased their average skill scores from 37 to 93%.
  • Government has agreed to adopt the course as the national training of senior auxiliary health workers (about 6000 total)
